Psychology of Music In Games
Nostalgia, mood changer or any other reaction you get from sounds shows in the simplest of ways why sound is so important. The many ways of how sound works including but not limited to invoking certain moods such as joy are amplified when it comes to games. This is because it gives the player a more interactive experience by making the music set the scene and makes the player feel how the developers want and hope they feel. One of the best examples I can give in sounds invoking different music is the genre greats like Attack on Titan, Halo, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time and the tv shows Vikings and game of thrones.
